For a startup or a small tech product to become a tech giant it needs sales. Yes sales brings in the revenue which is vital for a company’s growth.
Sales made a small tech company become Salesforce, sales made a small tech company become Freshworks.
Yet a lot of technical founders struggle with sales. I have seen many amazing products go to waste just because the founders were technical and hence failed to sell.
I have myself suffered from this problem. In the early days of my entrepreneurial journey I never knew how to sell.
The content on the internet is unstructured and it takes a while for someone to really understand how to start selling their product.
Well funded companies don't have this problem. They always have the budget to hire talented sales people who kick start the sales process. It is always the bootstrapped companies that suffer as they do not have the deep pockets to neither buy expensive software nor hire the right talent.
So to solve this problem, I have decided to start this blog and share my knowledge of sales. I am sure the structured sales approach should be really helpful to tech founders running bootstrapped businesses.
I am a serial entrepreneur who has failed four times and succeeded 2 times in building successful software companies.
To be really honest, the companies that failed taught me a lot about building a successful company. I wear my failures on my sleeve proudly as it made me who I am. These failures are also the reason behind the two successful saas products that I built.
As I share my knowledge in this blog I will also implement the sales practices in my third company which I am launching as we speak. This is my version of selling in public (like the build in public). This will help entrepreneurs relate to the entire sales process.
I will not have any paid access for this series of articles. All articles in this selling in public series will be posted on the blog and will be accessible by the whole world.
However in the process of selling I will be using various paid applications. The subscription to these applications won't be expensive but it will cost some money.
To be honest most of the applications that are used in the sales process are expensive and are unaffordable for a lot of startups. Unfortunately that's the hard reality. But as a fellow entrepreneur who has managed to grow two successful bootstrapped Saas companies I can assure you that we will find affordable alternatives to the expensive softwares.
So welcome aboard and let's start selling. :-)
I am a serial entrepreneur and I am passionate about solving critical business problems.
